Best Food Product of the Year

Best Food Product of the Year

Archant

This award celebrates both the dedication and passion that goes into producing the mouth watering products that were nominated, and the innovative food producers behind them.

The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about Somerset and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Food Product of the Year’.

This year’s finalists

Bumblee’s Preserves, Norton Fitzwarren

Handmade at home by Francine Lee, Bumblee’s preserves are lovingly produced using traditional methods and a recipe which has been passed down the generations. Bringing the recipes up to date with a few modern twists, Francine now sells her wide selection of jams and preserves, including a Gin and Tonic Marmalade and Runner Bean Chutney, at shops and farmers’ markets across the county.

Moonbeams Farm

Moonbeams Farm produces fine quality rare breed meat from their herd of pedigree Gloucester Old Spot pigs at their farm in Wellington. Their range of tasty meat products impressed our judges, with their beautiful bangers being described as ‘succulent and bursting with flavours and freshness’

And the winner is…

Granny Gothards Ice Cream, Stoke St. Gregory

Handmade on Gothards farm in the heart of the Somerset levels, Granny Gothards ice creams are made with passion and flair, using milk from their own cows to create a fabulous array of tasty ice cream flavours. You won’t find any artificial additives, stabilisers or colourings just delicious, natural flavours, locally sourced and all from ‘pasture to pot’ in one day.

The Best Food Product of Year Award is sponsored by Ston Easton Park
