Mount Somerset Hotel, Taunton

Nestled in the picture-perfect Somerset countryside, Taunton’s Mount Somerset Hotel boasts mesmerising views across the Quantock and Blackdown Hills.

Soak in the stunning scenery and embrace the surroundings this Christmas with an exquisite five course menu, full of contemporary twists and traditional treats that are sure to satisfy your festive cravings.

The Babbling Brook, near Bridgwater

The award-winning Babbling Brook is a charming, family owned country pub just a short drive from Bridgwater. Renowned for its truly mouth-watering roast dinners, the Inn boasts an equally delicious Christmas Day menu.

Guests can enjoy a glass of bubbly or Bucks Fizz on arrival and then a choice of starters including cream of cauliflower soup with blue cheese or sloe gin cured salmon. The main course includes roasted crown of local turkey with all the traditional trimmings and dry aged sirloin beef with Yorkshire pudding, roasted shallots and chateau potatoes.

To finish, The Babbling Brook offers Christmas pudding, a rich chocolate Amaretto torte, a vanilla Panna cotta or West Country cheeseboard selection. Yum!

The New Mill, Taunton

Leave the cooking and washing up to someone else this Christmas, and enjoy three courses of delicious festive fare at The New Mill on the 25th. Based in the hamlet of Bathpool, the charming pub boasts a cosy, inviting décor with brick interior walls and warming log fires perfect for a special Christmas celebration with loved ones.

Begin with orange flesh melon and Parma ham or Gressingham smoked chicken, among many other starters, hand-carved turkey breast with Clementine, tarragon and fig stuffing ball, a Cumberland and red onion pig in blanket, roast potatoes and vegetables for main and indulge in a black forest chocolate brownie or gingerbread crème brûlée for dessert.

 

The Monkton Inn, West Monkton

Just outside Taunton’s town centre, the owners of The Monkton Inn extend a warm welcome this Christmas offering patrons a mouth-watering Christmas Day lunch.

Enjoy a shellfish bisque or game broth before tucking into starters including a trio of smoked salmon, baked goats cheese on a bed of rocket or pan seared scallops with chorizo on a pea puree.

You’ll be spoilt for choice for mains with roast turkey with citrus stuffing, cranberry sauce and all the trimmings, carpetbagger fillet steak with mussels and a cheese sauce or grilled monkfish to choose from. Indulge in a traditional Christmas pudding, Yule log & clotted cream or Granny Gothards Farm Fresh ice cream for dessert. Vegetarian options are available on request.

The Old Thatched Cottage, Weston-Super-Mare

After a relaxed ramble along Weston-Super-Mare’s seafront, what’s better than settling down to a stress-free Christmas Day lunch without even having to think about preparing a festive feast?

Book a table at The Old Thatched Cottage for a delicious six course gourmet festive lunch accompanied by a few tipples from an extensive wine list and well equipped bar. Expect a cosy, intimate day of dining in the charmingly traditional décor of the restaurant.

The Strode Arms, Cranmore

Sitting in the historic village of Cranmore near Shepton Mallet, opposite the duck pond, is The Strode Arms, a 18th century coaching inn emanating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Well-known for their delicious Sunday lunches, the pub will be opening on Christmas Day between 12 and 4pm with lunch available for guests.

 

Olive Tree, Bath

Within the basement of Bath’s stunning Queensberry Hotel, you’ll find the Olive Tree restaurant which will be offering a Christmas Day lunch menu brimming with festive foodie treats all in a relaxed setting.

Enjoy starters such as Loch Duart salmon, cured and torched, Aberdeen Angus beef sirloin for main and Queensberry homemade Christmas pudding with clotted cream, ice cream, mandarin and brandy custard for dessert.
