Construction work is well underway to create 14 new homes in the North Somerset seaside town of Clevedon.

They are expected to appeal to young professionals working in Bristol as well as first-time buyers and investors.

Gloucestershire-based Cotswold Homes, which specialises in exclusive small developments, is building the homes in Strode Road in response to demand. They will be ready for occupation from the spring and summer this year

With so few new homes available in the town, interest in the development has been unusually high particularly from local people and already we have sold two properties off-plan, says Cotswold Homes sales manager Terri Hayes-Pugh.

The scheme comprises a mix of three-bedroom, three-storey townhouses, three-bedroom semi-detached homes and two-bedroom apartments. The design of the stone-fronted properties complements those of the existing Victorian homes in the residential area.

Every property comes with an off-road parking space and all the houses have gardens.

Shops, supermarkets and waterfront restaurants are nearby and junction 20 of the M5 motorway is a five-minute drive. The mainline railway station at Yatton is just four miles from the development.

The name of the scheme, Coastline, was inspired by the proximity of Clevedons seafront, a few minutes walk away. Coastal walks include Samuel Taylor Coleridges Poets Walk. A feature of the town is its 143-year-old Victorian Pier constructed from eight spans of curved rails which were surplus material from Brunels South Wales railway.

Prices of the apartments available at Coastline start at only 144,999 and townhouses are from 221,999. For details contact Steven Smith Town & Country Estate Agents at 12 The Triangle, Clevedon, North Somerset, BS21 6NG, telephone 01275 877771, email at
