2013 is the year of Jane Austen with Bath's Jane Austen Centre having already kicked off it's celebrations with a 24-hour readathon of her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice on January 28. But fear not, there's plenty more to see...

2013 is the year of Jane Austen with Baths Jane Austen Centre having already kicked off its celebrations with a 24-hour readathon of her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice on January 28. But fear not, there's plenty more to see...

This glittering social satire that inspired a thousands romantic comedies tells the story of the irrepressible Bennet sisters and their mothers attempts to marry them off to the most eligible bachelor she can find celebrates the 200th anniversary of its publication this year.

Visit The Jane Austen Centre at 40 Gay Street and you will probably meet Martin Salter (pictured), the centres meeter and greeter for the past six years - and said to be the most photographed man in England! Other attractions at the centre include an exhibition telling the story of Janes Bath experience alongside her visits during the end of the 18th century she made the town her home from 1801 to 1806. The readathon draws together more than 100 celebrities and schoolchildren, who each read a passage.

The year of celebrations culminates in the Jane Austen Festival which runs 13 - 21 September. Find out more at www.janeausten.co.uk
