Carymoor Environmental Centre is hosting an exciting intergenerational Sculpture Project during August, led by Somerset artist Fiona Campbell and set up by Somerset Art Works.

A unique nature reserve built over a capped landfill site just outside Castle Cary, Somerset, Carymoor is a haven of rebirth and sustainability. This Company of Voices project will bring together older and younger people, with artist Fiona Campbell, to create an exciting permanent site-specific sculpture inspired by Carymoor.

Following a Taster session in July, in which ten volunteers from different age groups came together with Fiona to help design the sculpture, anyone between the ages of 12-25 and those over 50 are invited to participate in one of two wire workshops being held on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th August. This is an exciting opportunity to learn new creative skills, meet new people, have fun and contribute towards a permanent artwork made out of recycled materials for Carymoor.

For those with a particular interest in the project there will be the opportunity to take part in completing the final sculpture on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th August. This smaller group will work alongside the artist to pull the sculpture together - ready to display at Carymoor's open day on Saturday 25th September during Somerset Art Weeks. Artwork from the workshops will also be on display at Carymoors open day.

Booking is essential as places are limited.
