Course Aims


This course is designed for beginners. Learners will investigate their Family History by researching records such as the Parish Chest, Manorial records, Military and Professional Records. Opportunities will be made to discuss progress and share experiences with other learners.



Course Outcomes


Recognise that a range of different sources of information can be used to trace their family History.


Demonstrate an ability to gather and link information from a range of different sources to produce various Family Tree charts and begin to describe the history of their ancestors.



Course content


At the start of the course the tutor will discuss any previous knowledge, skills and interests you have in this area


Records - Census, Birth, and Marriage, Death certificates, Parish records and Parish Registers in greater depth.


Records - Military and Professional Records, Taxation and Parish Records.
