Frome is a town of enormous charm, with its steep, winding streets, its wealth of beautiful old buildings and its friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It has more Listed buildings than any other town in Somerset (357 at the last count), many of them reminders of a rich Wessex industrial history of cloth, agriculture and country market trading. It is renowned for its thriving arts and crafts community and the town boasts a number of galleries and contemporary craft centres featuring a wealth of beautiful treasures to tempt you during the coming weeks, so add Frome to your Christmas list - if you haven't already done so.

This year children are at the heart of Frome's Christmas festivities. All the traditional elements are being packed into three fun-filled hours on 30 November. From 5.30pm carnival floats will be entertaining visitors to the Christmas Market. Santa will be making an early appearance, leading the procession by reindeer-drawn sleigh from St John's Church into the Market Place. His two reindeer will then be taking a well-earned rest by the Library where children can pet them before a firework display at 8pm. FromeFM will be broadcasting live on the day and there will be children's activities in Frome Library. Add to this packed programme appearances in the town by Morris dancers, handbell-ringers and Frome Town Youth Band and you have an evening made in Christmas heaven. One thousand free glow sticks are being distributed to children, so come along and join the procession, sing carols, meet Santa and the reindeer, make decorations, listen to Christmas stories, visit the shops and stalls and help put the childhood magic back into Frome's Christmas.
