VICTOR PASMORE EXHIBITION AT WETPAINT GALLERY

Saturday 17 September 15 October 2011

Opening: 10am 5pm Saturday 17 September

Victor Pasmore was one of the leading abstract painters of our time and a major figure in 20th Century Art. He pioneered the development of abstract art in Britain in the 1940s and 50s and his move into abstraction from representational painting was described by Herbert Read as the most revolutionary event in post war British Art.

An inspirational artist and printmaker, Pasmore taught and influenced many young British artists including Sir Terry Frost and paved the way for a new generation of abstract painters.

In both 1965 and 1980, the Tate Gallery hosted major retrospectives of Pasmore's work and his paintings and prints are held in all major international collections of modern art.

Wetpaint Gallery is delighted to present a collection of screenprints and etchings by this important artist supported by contemporary abstract painters Matthew Lanyon and Nathan Pendlebury.

Opening hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10am -- 5pm

Entry is free and all work is for sale and can be previewed on the gallery's website. Please ask about own art interest free loan.
