Children's charity Action Medical Research is looking for cyclists to sign up now for its BATH 100 bike ride this spring.

Childrens charity Action Medical Research is looking for cyclists to sign up now for its BATH 100 bike ride this spring. If youve made a new years resolution to get fit then signing up and training for a challenge could help to keep you motivated and on the right track.

Participants can register now to secure their places for the event, which is supported by leading bike brand Trek and takes place on Sunday April 1. There is a choice of a 100-mile or a shorter 100km route setting out from Bath Racecourse, Lansdown, Bath . The route takes in some of the most beautiful scenery of Somerset and Wiltshire including Stourhead, Westbury White Horse and Lacock.

Cyclists participating in the Bath 100 will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children. Action Medical Research is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2012 and since 1952 has spent more than 100 million on medical breakthroughs to help sick and disabled children. The charity is currently supporting work around meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, premature birth, and some very rare conditions that severely affect children.

Mark Trott, UK Cycling Development Manager at Action Medical Research, says: Having a target like a 100-mile bike ride to aim for can make it easier to stick to the promises you make at the start of a new year and ensure your good intentions dont go to waste.

100 miles on a bike is quite a challenge and your stamina and fitness will be tested. If its been a long time since youve done any exercise, start off with short rides and push yourself a bit further each time. By April youll be fit and ready to join us.

This event is part of the charitys popular RIDE100 series of one-day bike rides taking place across the UK. All include chip timing, food and water stations, lunch, marshals and mechanics.

Places will be limited so make sure you register today. For more information about the Bath 100 and to register, visit the website www.action.org.uk/bike
