A celebration of all things canine is returning to Bristol this month, with celebrity dog fans joining in the party

TV presenter Clare Balding will be taking most part in the Great Dog Walk, one of the popular events at Dogfest, which takes place at Ashton Court Estate on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23.

The festival has been running for six years and is held at three locations around the country, including Ashton Court. It includes expert talks, dog displays, educational sessions and have-ago activities, all geared towards celebrating the bond between people and dogs and promoting animal welfare.

Clare, who is the presenter of Crufts television coverage, will lead the Great Dog Walk and chat to people around the course and she'll also award prizes for the Fun Dog Show.

Another famous face at the show will be Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, aka the Supervet, who has a television show and is known globally for his groundbreaking work with his animal patients. He will lead a special interactive feature for younger visitors as well as officially open the Great Dog Walk.

There will be plenty of canine entertainment to watch in the Activity Arena, including stunts and routines from dog display teams.

Elsewhere there are activities to take part in, such as Dog Diving, where furry volunteers line up to leap into a massive aquasports pool, and there's Fido's Lido, a giant paddling pool for pups and people.

Another new event is the Big Dog Dig where dogs can catch the scent of buried goodies and scrabble away to their heart's content to get to their prize. There are plenty more games and activities for dogs to take part in and owners have the chance to listen to talks and watch demos on a range of topics including behavioural psychology, dietary requirements and veterinary developments.

The whole event has a festival atmosphere with activities for children and a choice of food and drink stalls, including coffee vans and gin bars and there's a shopping village, providing plenty of retail therapy.
