Downside School scores another Rugby success

Downside School has produced another rugby player to gain county recognition.

Rugby Success

Downside School has produced another rugby player to gain county recognition.

Tom Pugh was selected following some outstanding displays for his school side and then made a real impression at the Somerset County Under 18 trials.
Tom, aged 17, is an Upper Sixth pupil and was selected to play for his Stratton on the Fosse school against Millfield School in a warm-up match followed by his full county debut against Gloucestershire in the championship.
Downside School has a fine tradition of producing county players and Guy Barrow, one of Downsides rugby coaches, said: Tom is a gifted back row forward and has led Downside very impressively this season. He has developed into an outstanding captain, leading by example both in training and on match days and has played in every 1st XV fixture for the past two seasons. His county cap is richly deserved."
