Archant

The award for ‘Hotel Restaurant of the Year’ enables our numerous hotel restaurants to stand out from the crowd. We were looking for venues that offer a sublime dining experience with fantastic food, drink and superb service

The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

These awards recognise our vital Somerset food and drink industry and give recognition to the producers, growers, suppliers and hospitality venues in our wonderful county.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of ‘Hotel Restaurant of the Year’, sponsored by Westchem.

The finalists:

@ the Galley, The Beach Hotel in Minehead

@ the Galley can be found in Minehead run by the YMCA Somerset Coast Group. Judges were impressed with the weekly changing menu, reflecting the fresh and seasonal produce sourced. As part of the YMCA they are committed to helping young people in the community; offering apprenticeships and training talent in the kitchen. It was commented the service was friendly and prices were competitive which was mirrored in the food quality.

Psalter’s at The Luttrell Arms Hotel, Dunster

Psalter’s, is again located in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Judges noted the very professional and polite welcome they received from staff on arrival. The judges described Psalter’s as a charming and unique restaurant, who offer a wonderful menu, packed full of locally sourced produce, where they felt very relaxed.

The winner:

The Coleridge Restaurant at Dunkery Beacon Country House, Wootton Courtenay

The Coleridge Restaurant, is located in the stunning Exmoor National Park. Judges were wowed by the tranquil surroundings and beautiful views to be had at this stunning hotel. Judges couldn’t fault their fine dining experience, describing the food as amazing and the service as fast, professional and friendly.
