The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards is one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region's food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the he good and the great from the region's food & drink industry including local producers & suppliers, small farming businesses, chefs, restaurants, pubs and hoteliers, and people who care about the countryside and the future of our local environment.

Interesting and innovative menus featuring local seasonal ingredients were important criteria in the category of 'Restaurant of the Year'. And tonight's finalists have plenty on their menus.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of 'Restaurant of the Year', sponsored by Howards Motor Group.

This year's finalists:

Duende Restaurant, Wiveliscombe

Duende Restaurant Offer inspired, creative, fresh, local seasonal food on the high street of Wiveliscombe. The tasting menu changes regularly, influenced by the seasons. Their aim is to minimise waste and use the best local produce that is available.

PURO Restaurant & Bar, Clevedon

PURO Restaurant & Bar is a modern venue for relaxed, yet sophisticated, eating and drinking. All the food is fresh, with a focus on well sourced ingredients, providing simple but quality, seasonal food. In addition to the food menu is a carefully selected wine list and a diverse range of spirits and cocktails.

And the winner is…

Menu Gordon Jones, Bath

Menu Gordon Jones offer a unique dining experience. Here only a surprise tasting menu is on offer, decided by Gordon Jones, from which you experience contrasting flavours and textures with English, Indian and Asian influences. Diners can also opt to take up the 'wine flight', where wines are chosen for you to complement each course, leaving diners not needing to make any decisions and to just sit back and enjoy the experience.
