Hidden in the Somerset Levels, The Duck at Burtle is loved by its locals and also those lucky enough to stumble across it. Winner of the 'Family Dining Award' at the Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards 2017 and finalist for the same award in 2018, we're big fans of their warm, welcoming service and their delicious, homemade dishes.

Mount Somerset Hotel, Taunton

Hare & Hounds, near Bath
The Hare & Hounds is one of our favourite places to enjoy dinner al fresco, and a drink with a view, but it's also a wonderfully cosy spot for escaping the cold, winter weather with family and friends.
For those who don't fancy spending their Christmas Day morning slaving at the stove, the Hare & Hounds is serving up a festive feast without you lifting a finger. Starters include hot smoked mackerel pate and spiced chickpea and sweetcorn fritters, while mains include traditional roast turkey as well as braised feather-blade beef with creamy mashed potato. Make sure to leave room for Christmas pudding, cheese and biscuits and a warm mince pie -yum!
White Hart, Somerton
In the charming market town of Somerton you'll find The White Hart, a 16th century pub with rooms that boasts enviable, modern interiors following renovations a few years back. The pub is transformed in the run up to Christmas, with beautiful decorations and festive touches on display in the dining room.

We love the sound of the spiced belly of Gloucester Old Spot with mashed potato and the White Hart Christmas pudding, salted caramel sauce and brandy and raisin ice cream to follow.

Begin with dishes including spiced celeriac soup and smoked Scottish salmon, followed by roast Somerset turkey with apricot stuffing and the trimmings and for dessert traditional Christmas pudding or a selection of British cheeses. Make sure to leave room for tea or coffee with petit fours served afterwards.
Sitting in the city's historic Market Place, The Crown at Wells is a 15th century inn with plenty of history, and, bags of charm and character. The pub also had a starring role in Edgar Wright's action-packed cop comedy movie Hot Fuzz.
If you fancy a Christmas celebration out, The Crown at Wells will be serving three courses of delicious festive fare. Starters include pan fried scallops served with black pudding, pea puree and crispy pancetta before mains of roasted breast of Somerset turkey crown with all the trimmings or individual fillet of beef wellington with Dauphinoise potatoes and red wine jus, plus many more to choose. To finish, enjoy traditional Christmas pudding or a plate of local cheeses.
The New Mill, Bathpool near Taunton
Leave the cooking and washing up to someone else this Christmas, and enjoy three courses of delicious festive fare at The New Mill on December 25. Based in the hamlet of Bathpool, the charming pub boasts a cosy, inviting décor with brick interior walls and warming log fires perfect for a special Christmas celebration with loved ones.
Begin with honey-roasted pear and Parma ham or duo of pate, among many other starters, hand-carved turkey breast with lemon & thyme stuffing, a Cumberland and red onion pig in blanket, roast potatoes and vegetables for main and indulge in a Christmas pudding or hazelnut crème brûlée for dessert.
The Swan, Wedmore
One of our favourite places for al fresco dinner and drinks, The Swan in Wedmore is just as wonderful inside when the weather takes a turn. The delightful gastro-style pub offers seven light and modern bedrooms as well as a menu of River Cottage inspired dishes: think simple dishes carefully curated and cooked to perfection.
