The poster promised us a miscellany of music and words of a seasonal nature and that was certainly what we got from a choir in good voice, looking confident and relaxed under the direction of Claire Wren with Tom Morrell at the piano.
The larger space enabled the performance of several mini-dramatizations to delight the audience. The altos gathered round the table of festive food in the song Christmas Fare. Good King Wenceslas looked out, giving his page the run around (literally) and a puppet show depicting the nativity was most moving. A husband and wife double act told us how to use up left-over turkey and we had mince pies coming out of our ears in The Mince Pie Calypso. There certainly were plenty of those at refreshment time, delicious with the mulled wine.
An excellent evenings entertainment! The lively buzz of conversation afterwards clearly showed how much everyone had enjoyed themselves.
