Charlotte Skidmore finds a holiday park that makes camping that bit easier.

I learnt two things whilst camping in Cornwall recently – I’m not a very good camper, but if I was, Trevornick Holiday Park would be a good place to go.

The site, in Hollywell Bay, is well geared up for families with younger children,
with a small theme park adjacent to the camping areas.

But, having travelled with my husband, my teenage step son and his 14-year-old cousin, there were also offerings for them – including a karting track and a really good crazy golf course.

There is also a ‘proper’ golf course and an 18-hole pitch and putt that we unfortunately didn’t have chance to tackle – but would be well worth a try should you decide to stay there.

Our accommodation was a Eurotent – a ready set-up tent with three good sized bedrooms, kitchen equipment, a fridge, small television, tables, chairs, beds – most of the basics you need really.

Now, I am not a seasoned camper and I do like home comforts, so the fact the accommodation came ready equipped like this was a saviour.

Had I been faced with the prospect of pitching a tent, I think I may have headed to the nearest hotel. But this site convinced me to stay – I’d say it did pretty well to
do that.

However, I fully appreciate that camping can be really fun for many families and if staying in a tent is something you enjoy, this enhanced experience at Trevornick really would be a delight for you.

It’s not glamping – but it is camping with ease.

The site is really clean, the evening entertainment is varied and the shop is pretty well stocked (although as it is a camp site I’d recommend a few more things people can pop on a barbecue).

There is also a small health and beauty spa on-site, with some really good treatments on offer.

I had a full body massage and facial and I would describe both as ‘excellent’. The therapist was friendly, professional and explained what was going on without ‘intruding’ on my treatment.

In conclusion – this is a great park for families who love camping.

It will give you the flexibility of camping – with a few home comforts to make life easier – especially with young children.

It is located about a 10 minute drive from the centre of Newquay – which has great beaches and is a must visit if you stay at this park.
