The village of Trull in Somerset lies in an area of great history and beauty. It is located at the foot of the Blackdown Hills, near the town of Taunton, and boasts a number of historical buildings, as well as stunning West Country scenery. The village itself is small and charming, and in recent years has attracted many new home buyers to move to the area.
Trull is located only 2.5 miles (4km) from Taunton, where you will find plenty of shops and amenities. The village itself has good road links and easy access to the M5. The cities of Bristol and Exeter are also within easy travelling distance, and as well as plenty of shopping and entertainment, each city also boasts an international airport. Living in Trull offers the best of both worlds – a rural setting, but with town and city life right on your doorstep.
There are 44 listed buildings and sites of historical interest within the parish of Trull, including cottages, farmhouses, barns, and even the village stocks. The church recently celebrated its 700th anniversary and was originally served by the monks of Taunton Priory. The west church tower dates back to the 13th century, and the rest of the building was built in the 15th century. Inside you will find medieval stained glass and a 16th-century pulpit.
The Parish of Trull is a small community of only 2200 residents, but what it lacks in numbers it makes up for with community spirit, with much of the activity centring around the village church and community hall. Trull also has its own memorial hall, which was originally built to commemorate those who died in the two world wars. It is one of the most used facilities of its kind in the region of Somerset, and activities include exercise classes, arts and crafts, pantomimes and cinema evenings.
Additional amenities in Trull include a primary school, post office, pub and local convenience stores.
