Following the success of the award winning Bridgwater College Show Choir, the College has decided to extend the opportunity to younger year groups, with the launch of two new Youth Choirs.

The new choirs will aim to tread in the footsteps of the current College Choirs, which have seen various successes including appearances at the National Festival of Music for Youth at Birmingham Town Hall, Last Night of the Schools Prom at The Royal Albert Hall, and on the Channel 5 television show Dont Stop Believing. The Show Choir was also voted Best Glee Club UK in conjunction with Wicked The Musical, sang on the Elaine Paige Show on Radio 2 and visited Universal Studios in Florida as part of a performance tour.

Choir Director Kathryn Stevens said, This is a really exciting opportunity which will see the launch of two new choirs a general choir and a show choir, and they will be open to youngsters across the county aged 11 16 years. The aim is to bring likeminded pupils from all schools together to enhance their musical creativity and create something really special. Choir members will need to attend weekly rehearsals and be very committed to the project, but will have the chance to become involved in a wide range of unique performance opportunities including national festivals and competitions.

To find out more, there is an information evening and workshop on Thursday 9 June from 4.30pm 7.30pm at Bridgwater College, Bath Road, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 4PZ. This will take the format of a short presentation with opportunities for questions and answers for parents and carers, followed by a workshop for both choirs.

For more information please call Kat Stevens on 01278 441262.
