COSMiC (the Centre of Somerset Music Club) are holding a Barn Dance at the Meadway Hall, Compton Dundon TA11 6PQ on Friday February 22nd, starting at 7:15.


The family friendly evening will feature dancing to music from the celebrated Chris Toyne as well as CosaFolk. Local caller Dick Carlyon will guide new and more experienced dancers through their paces. All are welcome to attend the event and parents are encouraged to bring their children as the dances will cater for a range of ages. A bar will be available to slake the thirst of the more energetic dancers.


The event is being used to raise funds for COSMiC which uses them to supplement members subscriptions which pay for professional tuition, equipment & venue hire.The Saturday morning club is based at Streets Strode campus. It has been running for 36 years and currently has a membership of 150+, the majority being of school and college age. It aims to provide opportunities for musicians of all abilities to play and perform in a variety of ensembles. These range from groups of near-beginners through to highly capable young musicians, many of whom also play at County level. The types of music include a choir, concert band, chamber, folk, and rock as well as large classical and jazz orchestras.


Tickets for the event will be available on the door at 6.50 for adults and 4.50 for children (5-17) and senior citizens. Early birds can get their tickets at discounted prices of only 5.50 and 3.50 by phoning 01458 272933.
