As the country eagerly anticipates the Royal Wedding on April 29th, Westonbirt School is particularly looking forward to celebrating. The school, in conjunction with Westonbirt with Lasborough Parish, is set to open its doors to the local community for a Royal Wedding Party, and as very close neighbours of Highgrove, there could not be a more perfect setting for the public to raise a glass to William and Kate.
Indeed, Westonbirt School is no stranger to royalty. In September 2005 Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall received a tremendous welcome when they officially opened the Westonbirt Leisure Centre. In November 2009, The Duchess of Cornwall very kindly returned to open the new preparatory school, Rose Hill Westonbirt. Indeed, in the school holidays one of the Housemistresses recounts seeing Prince William and Prince Harry enjoying a spot of tennis on the Westonbirt courts! When William and Kates engagement was announced, Year 3 pupil, Lula White, from Rose Hill Westonbirt, delivered a handmade congratulations card on behalf of the Year 3 class to the happy couple through the Highgrove shop in Tetbury and she was delighted to receive a thank you letter from Clarence House shortly afterwards!
Westonbirt School is extending an open invitation to the party, which will take place in the schools Great Hall and in the beautiful grounds, from 5:00pm till late. The Great Hall will be transformed into a village street, complete with long trestle tables, Union Jacks and bunting. There will be a Punch and Judy Show, outdoor games for all and a Supper (6:30 for 7.00pm). This will be followed by Country dancing and a traditional sing along.
Guests may bring their own drinks and tickets can be purchased from the school office, 10 for adults and 5 for children. Please call 01666 880333 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by 15th April.
