Over 300 people packed the seats to hear business entrepreneur and former The Apprentice star Ruth Badger, when she visited Somerset College in Taunton recently.

Brimming with energy and inspiration, she spoke to students in the afternoon and business peopleat a special evening event, about everything from her own meteroric rise to what she values in employees.

As someone who left school with only three GCSEs and now has three businesses with over 200 staff, Ruth, 32, told her audiences not to be afraid to fail. "You will do things that will bring you to your knees - success is not repeating the mistake you made last time. Always give it a go, carry on when others stop."

Ruth told the business audience when she talked on Leadership and Management in A Changing World, that the best time to start a business was in a recession. And, she said, the most important thing in business was people. "Your staff make or break you," she said.

Ruth Bagder was speaking at Somerset College as part of the Leadership and Management series of talks, organised by Somerset Business Centre to promote topical conversations with the local business community.
