Somerset Community Foundation, in association with Somerset Life, invites you to join them at their annual Carol Service at Wells Cathedral on Saturday 11th December. The Foundation connects those who believe charity begins at home with the people who need a helping hand on their doorstep.
Since 2002, the Foundation has been the key portal through which donations have been channelled to hundreds of local charities and community groups. For many in this county of extremes, its the last line of defence against poverty and exclusion.
The organisations they help operate below the radar and often struggle to raise sufficient funds on their own. The money the Foundation raises and distributes is absolutely crucial for the thousands of people who need some extra help, including:
The young, who lack opportunities
The elderly living in isolation
Those of all ages living with disabilities
Victims of domestic abuse
The homeless
To date they have distributed over 2.5 million to more than 750 local projects in Somerset, including those featured here, and secured a further 1 million in a long-term endowment fund to make sure there is local support for future generations.
More than ever, local charities and community groups need our help, and that is why Somerset Life is proud to support the Somerset Community Foundation.
Join us on Saturday 11 December 2010, 7pm at the Sing for Somerset Carol Service at Wells Cathedral
Mid Somerset Orchestra with Somerset Voices conducted by Elizabeth Hayley
