Somerset Community Foundation, in association with Somerset Life, invites you to join them at their annualCarol Service at Wells Cathedral on Saturday 15 December.
Over the past ten years, the Somerset Community Foundation has donated to hundreds of local charities and community groups. For many in this county of extremes, its the last line of defence against poverty and exclusion.
The organisations they help operate below the radar, quietly helping those most in need. The money the foundation raises and distributes is absolutely crucial for the thousands of people who need some extra help, including:
the young, who lack opportunities
the elderly living in isolation
those of all ages living with disabilities
victims of domestic abuse
To date they have distributed more than 3 million to more than 1,000 local projects in Somerset, including those featured here, and secured more than 2.5 million in a long-term endowment fund to make sure there is local support for future generations. In 2012 the foundation also received the National Civil Society Charity Award for its winter campaign.
More than ever, local charities and community groups need our help, and that is why Somerset Life is proud to support the Somerset Community Foundation.
