Yeovil prides itself on co-ordinating Christmas with style and convenience and as one of the county's most important market towns it offers a wide variety of shopping alternatives. The village-style Quedam Centre offers shoppers the best of the multiples while the small alleys and lanes which lead off it house some small and fascinating individual boutique-style shops. Many shoppers make the town's popular department store Denners their first destination as it offers a wealth of goodies under one roof. And if it's something more quirky and individual you are looking for, four specialist markets will be held in Lower Middle Street on each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Yeovil's two lovely churches, St John's and St Andrew's, were putting the finishing touches to their Christmas programmes as we went to press but a range of choral and religious events is being planned to mark the season.
