Distance: 2.5miles (4km) Time: 1 hour 15 minutes Exertion: Light

Boots on? Lets go!

1 Starting from the car park opposite the Village Hall, come out of the car park and turn left, heading up the hill along the pavement of Main Street and passing the village stores on your right. Turn left into Hill View and follow the pavement road round past Hales Meadow on the left. Continue on the pavement until it runs out and then walk along the side of the road, taking care of the traffic on the road. Carry on following the road round to your right initially, then to your left and then round to your right again. Pass the houses on your left until the fork in the road with the post box in front of you.

2 Take the right-hand road and continue ahead following to the farm, passing the two further houses on your left. Follow the road through the farmyard. Continue ahead on the road, be careful for any traffic, until you reach another junction with a red-brick house in front of you. Continue on the road in front of the house (the right fork) between the houses on both sides of the road until you reach a left-hand turn in the road. Take the footpath on your right going over the stile. This is not through the gate ahead of you but the field to the right and there is a footpath signposted by the stile.

3 Go over the stile and into the field, head uphill to cross the track through the field with an electric fence on either side. There are wooden stiles to climb over the electric fence. Head for this crossing point in the track and then continue ahead uphill towards the field entrance (gap in the hedge). At the gap in the hedge turn right and follow the field boundary on your right until you reach the road (ignore the entrance to the field on your right). At the corner of the field you will reach an untraditional wooden stile, which looks a bit like a fence, to climb over before reaching another stile after a short distance to enable you to get out onto the road.

4 At the road, cross over the road and turn left to walk up the road on the grass verge. After a short distance you reach a lay-by. After the lay-by continue on the grass verge until you come to the turning on your right, Sock Hill. Take the road on your right, being careful of any traffic. Continue down the road until you reach the houses in front of you and a track goes off to your right. Take the track and follow around to the left after a short distance. Follow the track downhill initially and then uphill, follow round to the right and then left before you come to a house on your left. The lane continues ahead and you need to take the road off to the right.

5 Follow the road, being careful of any traffic. At the road junction with the house on the right continue straight ahead (right at the junction). As there is not a pavement, continue to be careful of the traffic. Continue along the road as it bears round to the left and the right until you reach the village church on the right. After the church take the pavement on the right side of the road in front of the houses and continue ahead to the main road. At the main road, turn right and continue up the main road, passing the village pub on the left until you reach the village hall on a the right. At this point you can use the pedestrian crossing to reach the car park.
