Three-wheeled car owners are invited to help Father Christmas arrive in style at Monkton Elm this Christmas.

Norma Moore, General Manager of the family-run garden centre at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton, said: Santa has explained to us that his reindeer need to get lots of rest before they have their busiest day of the year on Christmas Eve, 24th December. As they have to fly around the world, hes decided to come to the garden centre with Del Boy-lookalike Steve Rooney and his yellow Reliant Robin instead.

We would like anyone with a three-wheeled car to join Steve on his parade with Father Christmas, as it would be great to see a whole host of three-wheeled vehicles accompanying him to the garden centre. It is free of charge to display and vehicles of any age would be welcome.

Norma added: We are celebrating our 30thanniversary this year so thought it would be great to link our Santas arrival with the 1980s, the decade that the garden centre was launched. We decided on an Only Fools and Horses theme as it was such a popular television programme in the 1980s. We think grandparents, mums and dads will enjoy seeing Del Boy as much as the boys and girls will enjoy seeing Father Christmas.

Santas grotto will open at the garden centre on Saturday 24thNovember from 11.30- 4pm and then every Saturday and Sunday until 23rdDecember from 10.30-4pm.

Entry to Father Christmas grotto costs 5 per child and includes a present chosen from Santas workshop, a Christmas colouring card and a sticker. This year Santas grotto is being run by Childrens Hospice South West. All proceeds from the grotto will go to the charity, which is the only provider of specialist hospice care for children in the region.

Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre is celebrating its 30thanniversary this year. The award-winning, independent garden centre was launched in 1982 and is run by the Bellman family with the help of nearly 100 staff. Some have been with the business for more than 25 years.

Santa arrives at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at 11am on 24thNovember.For more details, please call01823 412381, or visitmonktonelmgardencentre.co.uk.Those interested in taking part in Santas arrival should call 01823 412381 to find out more.
