On the morning of Sunday 15th May over 180 ladies, all members of District 20 Inner Wheel Clubs, took over the Ferris Wheel at Weston Super Mare to promote the organisation and their Association Presidents Charity, The National Osteoporosis Society.
District 20 covers the whole of Somerset and parts of Wiltshire and Dorset and consists of 28 clubs ranging from Weymouth in the south, The Quantocks in the west, Bath in the north and Frome to the east.
Inner Wheel was founded over 80 years ago by Margarette Golding, the wife of a Manchester Rotarian and has grown to become one of the largest female organisations in the world. Primarily the aim of Inner Wheel is for fun and friendship but to this aim we all have fun raising money for local, national and international charities.
Our President for Great Britain & Ireland this year, Pam McConnell, asked for support for her chosen charity, The National Osteoporosis Society, to which result the Chairman of District 20, Angie Horne, decided that members in District 20 should do something special and so the idea of Inner Wheel Ladies riding The Weston Wheel was born!!
So once again the ladies have enjoyed meeting friends from their own and neighbouring Clubs to have a morning of fun and friendship whilst raising money for charity.
