Brian and Denise Herrick of Barcroft Hall, South Petherton together with Steve & Cheryl Larcombe of Wadeford, Chard have completed their second stage of their marathon cycle ride from the UK to the Mediterranean having taken eight days to cycle over 450 miles from Bordeaux to Cap DAgde .

The ride has raised several hundred pounds for the fabric fund for St James Church at East Lambrook.

The whole journey was almost 800 miles.

Brian and Denise have been keen cyclists in France for years covering thousands of miles.

Brian who is an active conservationist commented We are delighted to have achieved this, the weather was truly against us with 40 mph headwinds after Toulouse, at one stage it was so strong we had to get of the bikes and push! But by the last few days the sun shone. We are delighted to have been involved in raising money for the Church, we would recommend it to anyone!
