A special fundraising race organised by South Somerset Motorcross Club & 17 year old Ty Kellett and his family resulted in them handing over a cheque to Headway Somerset for the fantastic amount of 4,383 on Tuesday 22nd June.
Ty sustained horrific injuries at the Weston Beach Race last October and remained in intensive care for three weeks. Despite his terrible injuries Ty has made a miraculous recovery and was able to support the event which was held on 31 May at Pontrilla in Herefordshire.
The MC Federation, to which the South Somerset motocross club are affiliated, did their bit by donating ,1000 to the cost of running the event and supplying the timekeeping equipment and truck to make sure the event ran smoothly.
Martin Pettingell, Chairman of Headway Somerset received the cheque on behalf of the Charity.
This is one of the largest donations we have received from a fundraising event and we are absolutely delighted to be receiving such a wonderful amount.
We are truly grateful to Ty and his family for choosing to give the money raised from the race to Headway Somerset. Also special thanks to Alan Bryant, Paul Williams and the South Somerset MX Club for all their hard work for putting on this event. This donation will make a real difference to the services we provide at our three Brain Injury Outreach Units to people affected by brain injury living across the County.
