Involved with the Taunton-based club since his school days, Marcus Trescothick is now regarded as one of England's most outstanding batsmen.

Regarded as one of Englands most outstanding batsmen, Somerset Cricket Captain Marcus Trescothick played for England in 76 Test Matches. This is his 18th season with Somerset and its hoped the team can claim their first County Championship title this year.

Keynsham-born Marcus, who is known as Banger because of his love of sausages, has been involved with the Taunton-based club since his school days. Having grown up in the South West and coming down here as a junior, to be leading the team for the last two years is an honour, Marcus says.

His autobiography won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, 2008, and he lives in Taunton with his family.

In September, with fellow players, he gets on his bicycle for charity, riding from Bristol to Cornwall in aid of Childrens Hospice South West. We will visit the hospices on the way and we are calling it Bangers Bike Ride!
