Last years winner of Archants Customer Service Person of the Year, Mike has been presented with the Queens Award for Voluntary Services (the MBE for volunteer groups), as part of the management team of Somerset Amateur Swimming Association.

South West Property Manager and Homes24 Data Co-ordinator Mike, who has been secretary and chief coach of water polo for the county for the past 18 years, is also secretary of his own swimming club in Weston-super-Mare.

He said: I feel very honoured to be part of the management team that received the award and to be recognised for the many hours of work put in, not just by myself, but the other members of the team.

Her Majesty The Queen's representative, the Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset Lady Gass, accompanied by former High Sheriff of Somerset and Chief Executive of Somerset County Council, Deputy Lieutenant Brian Tanner and Deputy Lieutenant Peter Speke, attended the 2010 General Meeting of Clubs to present the Queen's Award.

County and club representatives were also delighted to welcome ASA President Don Neate, ASA Director of Finance Maria Walker, ASA South West Region President Julia Airlie and Wesport's Melonie Gregory to meeting at the Ring O' Bells, Ashcott on November 6.

Each member of the management committee received a memento of the occasion in the form of a glass engraved copy of the main award.
